This report is the second edition of the research of the market of directly reduced iron (DRI/HBI).

The purpose of the study is to analyze the market of directly reduced iron / HBI in the world, which covers the period 2007-2017.

The peculiarity of this report is the analysis of the production of DRI in Russia, the provision of information on the main processes of obtaining an DRI.

The object of the study is directly reduced iron.

This paper is a desk study. As sources of information, the data of the Federal Service of State Statistics of the Russian Federation (Rosstat), statistics on rail transportation of the Russian Federation, and the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation were used; UN database, InfoMine database, Midrex data. Also, data from the sectoral and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers, Internet sites of companies manufacturing and consuming DRI were also involved.

Chronological framework of the study: 2007-2017.

Geography of the study: the world as a whole, Russia, India, Mexico.

 

Scope of the research: the report consists of 9 parts, contains 97 pages, including 33 tables, 24 figures and 2 annexes.

The first chapter is devoted to the analysis of the current state of production of directly reduced iron with the identification of the main processes of its release, the form of the product. Also in the chapter are briefly presented the main directions of the development of the technology for the production of the LWP.

The second chapter presents the characteristics of the main processes for the production of the LWR, in particular, Midrex (Midrex®, MXCOL®, HOTLINK®) and HYL / Energiron (HYL ZR). In addition, the characteristics of the technology for the production of reduced iron by liquid-phase reduction processes and the "hybrid" process (ITmk3, COREX, HIsmelt) are presented.

In the third chapter, the requirements for the quality of the HPV of some manufacturers are presented.

The fourth chapter is devoted to the analysis of the production of hot-water liquids in the world by main technological processes and countries in 2007-2017. The main regions and countries for the production of VGRs, as well as major manufacturing companies, are identified. Analyzed production of PVC in India, Mexico, Russia and Iran.

In the fifth chapter, new projects for the production of liquid water are presented, data are given on the economics of projects, including investments, etc.

In the sixth chapter, the foreign trade of liquid domestic hot-water in the world in the period 2007-2017 is analyzed. It is noted that Russia has come out on top in terms of deliveries of UWW to the world market.

In the seventh chapter of the study, the prices for UWW in the world are analyzed, the forecast of the level of prices for HBI for the period up to 2025 is presented.

In the eighth chapter of the study, data are presented on the volumes of consumption of liquid domestic hot water in the world and in individual countries, the main drivers influencing the demand for this type of product are identified, and some of the largest consumers of the liquid domestic waste are identified.

In the ninth chapter of the study, the role and place of the UWW in the structure of iron-containing raw materials consumption during steelmaking is shown.

In the appendix to the report, the contact details of some market participants of the UWW and CIS metallurgical enterprises having experience in the use of metallized raw materials in the production of steel are given.

 

The target audience of the study:

- participants of the PVC market - producers and consumers;

The proposed study claims the role of a reference tool for marketing services and professionals who make management decisions that work in this market.
