This report is the first edition of a study of the sodium-ion salt batteries market in Russia and the world.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the global and Russian market for sodium-ion salt batteries.

The object of research is sodium-ion batteries.

This work is a desk research. Data from the statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan) were used as sources of information; UN international databases (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); Unified information system in the field of procurement; railway transport statistics; VLSI databases; foreign specialized companies; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, Internet sites of manufacturing enterprises and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (elibrary, etc.), FIPS patent database; Infomine database, etc.

Chronological scope of the study: 2019-2023. (Chapter 6.5. for R&D – 2015-4 months of 2024), forecast for 2024-2030.

Geography of the study: countries of the world and the Russian Federation.

The report consists of 7 chapters, contains 101 pages, including 8 tables, 22 figures and 4 appendices.

The first chapter provides information about sodium-ion salt batteries and compares performance with other types of metal-ion batteries.

The second chapter describes the main cathode and anode materials for the production of NaIA, in particular, hexacyanoferrates, oxides, polyanionic compounds, carbon materials, sulfides and others, as well as electrolyte substances.

The third chapter describes the global market for sodium-ion salt batteries in 2023 and indicates the planned capacity of the main manufacturers for 2030.

The fourth chapter examines the state of the global sodium-ion salt battery industry, summarizes information and provides a description of the main manufacturers from China, the European Union, the USA, India and other countries.

The fifth chapter examines the prospects for the development of the sodium-ion salt battery industry and provides a forecast of global production and consumption until 2030.

The sixth chapter examines the market for sodium-ion salt batteries in Russia in 2019-2023, highlights the main manufacturers and developers, identifies promising projects, reflects foreign trade transactions, presents prices for different types of sodium-ion salt batteries, lists groups of potential consumers, touches on issues of copyright protection for sodium-ion batteries, as well as information on completed and started R&D (research, development and theoretical work).

The seventh chapter describes the prospects for the development of the market for sodium-ion salt batteries in the Russian Federation and presents 3 forecast scenarios until 2030: basic, optimistic and pessimistic.

The appendices provide a list of grants and patents for inventions and utility models of the Russian Federation in the field of sodium-ion salt batteries for 2015-2023, R&D topics are given, indicating the amount of funding and performers, as well as contact information for the main Russian and foreign developers of sodium-ion batteries.

A distinctive feature of the report is a detailed examination of the profile of all well-known manufacturers of sodium-ion salt batteries in the world and Russia, an analysis of open R&D and their financing, as well as information on Russian patents for inventions and utility models in the field of sodium-ion salt batteries.

Target audience of the study:

- participants in the metal-ion battery market – manufacturers, consumers, traders;

- students of specialized universities;

- market analysts for chemical power sources;

- potential investors.

The proposed study claims to be a reference guide for specialists making management decisions working in the market of metal-ion salt batteries and devices based on them.
