The report is devoted to research of current standing of market of zinc in the CIS and prospects of its developments. The report is composed of 10 Sections, contains 129 pages, including 49 Figures, 34 Tables and Appendix.

The first Section of the report presents brief characteristics of world market of zinc, dynamics of world production and consumption of the metal (2003-2008), the main countries and company-producers, briefly analyses situation in production and consumption of zinc in China, shows dynamics of average annual world prices (1998-2008).

The second Section of the report is devoted to analysis of mineral resources base of zinc in the CIS. The Section analysesы various kinds of deposits of zinc, presents characteristics of their reserves in Russia, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries.

The third Section analyses mining and processing of zinc ores in Russia, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, characteristics of mined deposits, data on production of zinc in concentrate (1992-2007), main companies – producers of zinc concentrate, as well as large projects on mining of new deposits of zinc.

The fourth Section is devoted to analysis of current standing of the main producers of zinc concentrate in the CIS (Zyryanovsk GOK, «Vostoktsvetmet», JSC «Uchaly GOK»).

The fifth Section describes export-import of zinc concentrate by CIS countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan), presents volumes of export-import and the main directions of the supplies (1995-2007).

The sixth Section of the report presents forecast of production of zinc concentrate in Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan up to 2015

The seventh Section is devoted to analysis of standing of production of zinc metal in the CIS (Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine). It presents dynamics of production in these countries, production of the metal, broken by companies (1992-2007), description of current standing of the main producers (JSC «Kazzinc», JSC «Chelyabinsk zinc plant», JSC «Electrozinc», Balkhash zinc plant, Almalyk mining-metallurgical combine). Forecast of production of zinc in CIS countries up to 2020 is given.

The eighth Section analyses export-import operations in zinc of CIS countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine), presents volumes of export-import and the main directions of supplies (1995-2007). Besides, dynamics of average annual export-import prices is presented.

The ninth Section presents detailed description of zinc consumption in Russia, supply-demand balance of zinc (1995-2007) and pattern of its consumption in 2007. Besides, the Section describes and analyses end-uses of zinc, the main company-consumers, their current standing. In addition, dynamics of consumption of zinc in Kazakhstan and Ukraine is given, the main company-consumers are presented.

The tenth Section presents forecast of consumption of zinc in Russia up to 2020.

The Appendix presents addresses and contact information on the main company-producers and consumers of zinc in the CIS.

The work is a «desk» research, in the course of which various information sources were used, for instance, data of Federal Service of State Statistics of Russia, State Statistic Committee of Ukraine, Kazakhstan’s Statistic Agency, JSC "RZHD", Federal Customs Service of Russia and State Customs Committee of Ukraine. Besides, data of companies and own database of Infomine were used.

This all allowed authors to draw actual picture of market of zinc in Russia /CIS and its prospects.
