This review is the tenth edition of a study of the chlorine market in Russia, the EAEU countries, and globally.
Market monitoring has been conducted since 1997.
The objective of the study is to analyze the chlorine market in Russia and the EAEU/CIS countries.
The object of the study is chlorine (in gaseous and liquid form).
This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international UN databases (UNdata), Trademap, World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); railway transportation statistics; the SBIS database; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, and websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study. Scientific and technical literature (elibrary, etc.), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.
A distinctive feature of this study is its detailed characterization of the chlorine market (liquid and gaseous) in Russia. Furthermore, in-plant chlorine consumption is examined in detail. A brief description of the global chlorine market and the markets of the EAEU countries is also provided.
The study's chronological scope: 1997-2025; forecast: 2026-2030/2035.
Research geography: The Russian Federation – a comprehensive, detailed market analysis; the world; the EAEU countries – a brief retrospective analysis.
The review consists of 7 chapters and contains 121 pages, including 41 tables, 35 figures, and 2 appendices.
The first chapter of the review presents a brief description of the global chlorine market.
Chapter two provides information on existing chlorine production technologies, their characteristics, the raw materials required for production, their quality, and supplies to chlorine producers in Russia and the EAEU.
Chapter three of the review is devoted to an analysis of chlorine production in Russia and other EAEU countries. This chapter outlines the requirements of existing regulatory and technical documentation for chlorine quality and production capacity for this chemical, provides production statistics for this product by country and enterprise from 1997 to 2025, assesses the regional structure of production in the Russian Federation, and describes the main chlorine producers.
Chapter four analyzes foreign trade operations with chlorine in Russia and other EAEU countries. It presents data on export and import volumes from 2006 to 2025, assesses the regional structure of supplies, and provides data on chlorine supply volumes by exporters and importers of this product.
Chapter 5 presents information on chlorine prices on the domestic Russian market from 2013 to 2025, and also analyzes data on changes in chlorine export and import prices from 2006 to 2025 in Russia and other EAEU countries.
Chapter 6 presents the chlorine production-consumption balance in Russia and the EAEU from 2006 to 2025, assesses the industry structure of consumption for the studied products, describes the main industries and enterprises consuming chlorine, and analyzes the factors determining demand for products on the domestic Russian market.
Chapter 7 is devoted to the forecast for the development of the chlorine market in Russia through 2030/35.
The appendices provide in-plant chlorine consumption by Russian manufacturers in 2025 and contact information for chlorine producers in Russia and the EAEU.
The target audience for this study is:
- Chlorine market participants – producers, consumers, and traders;
- Potential investors.
This study is intended to serve as a reference guide for marketing departments and specialists working in the chlorine market.
