This report is the fifth edition of a study of the polyethylene (PE) market globally and in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries.
The objective of the study is to analyze the polyethylene market in Russia, the EAEU countries (which, in addition to Russia, include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan), and the global market for this product.
The object of the study is polyethylene, a thermoplastic polymer of ethylene, belonging to the class of polyolefins with the chemical formula (-CH2 - CH2-)n.
This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Unified Information System in Procurement; rail transportation statistics; the SBIS database; and foreign specialized companies; Annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of companies producing and consuming the products under study; scientific and technical literature (e.g., elibrary), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.
Research timeframe: 2015-2025; estimated 2026, forecast 2027-2035.
Research geography: Russia – comprehensive, detailed market analysis; global and EAEU countries – general retrospective market analysis.
The report consists of 7 parts and contains 177 pages, including 40 figures, 70 tables, and 3 appendices.
The first chapter is devoted to the global polyethylene market. This section provides data on capacity, international trade in this product, sales prices, consumption, and development prospects for the global polyethylene market.
Chapter two presents information on the polyethylene production technologies used in industry, production capacity in Russia, and the main raw materials used for its production.
Chapter three analyzes polyethylene production in Russia and other EAEU countries. It presents product quality requirements, traces production dynamics, and provides data on production volumes from 2015 to 2025. An estimate of production in 2026 is provided, and the leading polyethylene manufacturers and their current status are described.
Chapter four analyzes foreign trade transactions with polyethylene in Russia and EAEU countries from 2015 to 2025. It presents data on export and import volumes of the studied products, presents the geographic structure of supplies, and analyzes information on individual polyethylene exporters and importers.
Chapter five presents information on the price of polyethylene on the Russian domestic market and analyzes data on changes in export and import prices for the product from 2015 to 2025.
Chapter six is devoted to polyethylene consumption in Russia. This section presents the production and consumption balance of the product under study, presents its application structure in Russia, examines the main areas of polyethylene use, and describes the largest consumer companies.
The seventh and final chapter is devoted to the forecast for polyethylene production and consumption in Russia through 2030.
The appendices present the key characteristics of the Russian polyethylene market from 1999 to 2014, and provide contact information for Russian polyethylene producers and the largest consumers of this product who process third-party products.
Target audience for this study:
– Polyethylene market participants and raw materials for this product;
– Potential investors.
This study is intended to serve as a reference tool for marketing departments and decision-makers working in the chemical market.
