This report is the twenty-sixth edition of the study of the petroleum coke market in Russia, the CIS/EAEU and the world.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the petroleum coke market in the Russian Federation, the CIS/EAEU and the world.
The object of the study is petroleum coke (green and calcined).
The presented work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international UN databases (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (up to 2022); statistics of railway transportation of the Russian Federation; SBIS database; annual and quarterly reports of issuers of securities; industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of manufacturing enterprises and consumers of the studied products; scientific and technical literature (elibrary, etc.), the FIPS patent database; InfoMine database, etc. In addition, some data were confirmed and clarified by telephone surveys of specialists from the enterprises considered in this report. All this allowed the experts to identify the picture of the petroleum coke market in the CIS/EAEU and its development prospects.
A distinctive feature of this study is the presence of a brief description of the world petroleum coke market; a detailed description of the largest enterprises-producers and consumers of the products under consideration in Russia, the CIS/EAEU countries, directions of raw material supplies, volumes and directions of sales of green and calcined coke. The structure of petroleum coke consumption by application industries and the largest consumer enterprises is considered in detail, the current state and development prospects of the main consuming industries are characterized. Forecasts of prices, production and consumption of petroleum coke are provided (taking into account the current geopolitical situation as a result of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine), the largest projects for the expansion of production capacities are presented.
The chronological framework of the study: 1996-2023; 2024 – assessment and forecast for the period up to 2035.
Research geography: Russian Federation – comprehensive detailed market analysis; world, Republic of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and other CIS/EAEU countries – general retrospective market analysis.
The review consists of 7 parts, contains 179 pages, including 42 figures, 83 tables and 2 appendices.
The first chapter of the review provides a brief description of the world petroleum coke market.
The second chapter provides information on the raw materials required for the production of petroleum coke, its characteristics, and supply directions. This chapter also provides a detailed discussion of the coke production technology and provides quality indicators of the resulting products.
The third chapter is devoted to the production of petroleum coke (green and calcined) in the CIS/EAEU countries in 1996-2023. The section provides statistical and estimated data on coke production capacities and volumes in Russia and the CIS/EAEU countries. All petroleum coke producing enterprises, the current situation at these plants and development prospects are described in detail.
The fourth chapter provides data on foreign trade operations with petroleum coke in Russia and the CIS/EAEU in 1996-2023 and the first half of 2024.
The fifth chapter provides information on producer prices on the Russian market. In addition, data on changes in export-import prices for products are analyzed. This chapter also provides a forecast of Russian prices for the period up to 2035.
The sixth chapter examines the consumption of petroleum coke. It provides the production-consumption balance of this product in the Russian Federation and other CIS/EAEU countries, gives the industry structure of coke consumption in the Russian Federation, presents the main consumers of the Russian Federation and the CIS/EAEU, and analyzes their current status and development prospects.
The seventh chapter provides a forecast for the development of the Russian petroleum coke market, as well as the markets of other EAEU countries for the period up to 2035.
The appendices provide addresses and contact information for enterprises producing and consuming petroleum coke in the CIS/EAEU countries.
The target audience of the study:
- petroleum coke market participants – producers, consumers, traders;
- potential investors.
The proposed study claims to be a reference guide for marketing departments and decision-makers working in the petroleum coke market.
